Our Mind is Programmed

Hi All,

And welcome to a new week. How are you doing today? Most of you will without thinking answer: ¨I am fine, thank you, and you¨? And that is fine, we do that out of habit, or we will have big eyes turned toward us. I know, I did for about half a year, not say this, but instead I turned around and said: ¨Oh, you would not believe how bad I feel today, would you like to hear it¨? Most people just kept walking as if I had said I was fine, but there were others that was actually listening to what I said, and they really got scared. Most of them ran away, a few unfortunate souls, said: ¨John, is it that bad, let me hear about it¨. When they said that, I started telling them, I had a half hour complaint about how bad the world was, how children are dying in Africa, and about all the wars in the world, and how some countries kill their people, etc etc etc.

It was a tough morning for those two, they really got to here all that was wrong in this world, all at once. Was that a nice thing to do? No, it was not nice to do it to someone, and it was not nice for me to be doing it. This, because it made me focus on all the wrong stuff, the negative stuff, and I needed to remain positive and happy, but I was not getting there, I did not manage to get happy for that half a year. It became to bad, that I went into a real depression, I literally made myself sick, just by thinking about negative things.

We can all do this, and most of us do, by every day focusing on the negative stuff. We read newspapers, we watch TV, we listen to other people complain, we hear it everywhere. It is scary. There is so much negativity in the world, it is overloaded. I just heard a movie that puts it all in perspective. The reason it is like that, is that we are programmed finished by the age of 7. That is right, by the age of 7 years of age, our brain is finished programmed. We have learned all the stuff our parents do, we have learned all the rules of being in a family, we have learned how to behave in society. How? By watching others, especially our parents, and the rest of the family.

Then we have the proof that our belief can move mountain, look at medicine. Have you heard about the Placebo effect? It is when a person take a pill to get well from a disease, and the person get given the prescription for the tablet, but instead of being given the real pill, all they are getting is a sugar pill, and people still get well. It is not the sugar in the pill that makes you well, it is your belief. You have the opposite effect also. People thinking negative thoughts can think themselves sick, in the clip I just saw on Youtube, they even told you that people can think themselves to die. That is scary, but I can imagine, since they have proved it work the other way, it must be true that we can do it this way too. I thought myself to a bad heart, and I nearly died in the operation, and I had 5 stents put into the blood vessels the year after, because I was so negative. It is hard for the body to create so much plaque in one year.

So what can we do about it? Are we stuck? No, we are not, otherwise it would not be much point in writing about it. I am here to tell good news. It is really good news. I am learning Life Coaching Skills, NLP and a bit of Conversational Hypnosis at present, and through Hypnosis you can alter this very sharply, and very quickly, yes, in fact, you do not have to do hypnosis, in some cases auto-suggestions are enough, it depend on your attitude to change. I have at the moment my girlfriend trying out this method, and she has changed dramatically in her attitude to quit smoking. It is like night and day to talk to her about quitting smoking. Before, she would say, ¨I do not want to stop¨; now she say ¨I am so happy I have started this quitting thing, I feel so much better¨. Is that not amazing? And all just from a few lines of auto-suggestions that she did not even want to believe in a few weeks ago.

So here is the final conclusion; we live in habits, our subconscious mind control our life (90%), we take charge sometimes (10%). If we want to alter something, it is important to alter our beliefs. And most self-development stuff, do not alter beliefs, but just tell us to do more actions. However, to change our beliefs, we have to alter our thinking, and we have to give strong feelings to the new thoughts, so that it actually work to remove the old habit. Through auto-suggestions or conversational hypnosis, you can change the habits of your life.

Coaching and Appointments

Hi All,

I am so happy that you are here with me. Are you a little worried about thinking about starting a coaching relationship? What is it all about? Why should I need a coach? How can a coach help? These are some of the questions that I will try to show a bit about in this blog post. It is most fun and excitement, and not something one need to be worried about.

For many a coaching relationship would be something completely new. And new things can be a bit frightening. Not that we will admit to it. We just avoid it and in that way, we avoid having to deal with the situation. Many people live in quiet desperation instead of doing something about what they know needs to be done something about. It is not a nice world out there. People do not want to face what is foreign and might seem frightening. What is a coaching relationship all about? I would define it more like a good friend that keeps you accountable when it comes to working towards what you want, and I would not say that that sounds either frightening or scary, in fact, that is what I want my best friends to do. Keep me accountable to what I want to achieve. It is fun to develop your life, to achieve new goals and to experience new heights of life quality. If I stay the same, I feel bored, I feel like life is not worth living. Remember, life has no meaning, except that which you bring to it.

So what is the coaching relationship and the coaching session, and how does it all work? I try to explain a little about them both. The coaching relationship is between you and the coach, a relationship develops, so it is great if you find a person you like, but are not too close too, that is right, I do not coach friends, there is a reason, you have developed a close relationship already, and it can make it hard to ask the tough questions. That is right, if a coach and a client gets too close, there is a danger that the relationship ruins the power of being a coach. What is the coaching sessions for? That is where we do the work that we need to do to move you towards your goal, we look at the goals you set last time, what has happened, what you have done, and how it worked. We then review and reflect on what happen and whether that made you reach your goal you had set. Did you achieve it? Did you achieve some? Or did you achieve none of what you had planned? No matter what happened, what is the next step? Will you set new goals, will you alter the goal you set, or are you happy with were you are now? It is all up to the client what happens next, we as coaches offer our services, and we are there to help ask questions, help sort resources you may need to look at, and to keep you accountable for reaching your goal. I can for example help you work on your goal, I can question the goals, sometimes we want to achieve a goal that is too much over one week, and we then break them up, and achieve a piece at the time, remember the expression, you can eat an elephant one piece at the time. In the end, we set up a new appointment to meet again to do it all over again.

As you see, the coach can be very useful, in helping out finding resources, it can be resources in form of books, it can be resources the coach has collected or summaries for himself in the past, that can help you. It is often also referring to people like doctors and nutritionists, for example if you want to start a diet, you need to see your doctor before you finally decide that the plan is sound. Remember you as a client do not normal disclose your medical record to your coach, well, as a coach I often know of some of your medical history, but it is not all specifically described and I am not educated as a doctor and can therefore not give you advice in the domain of your personal doctor. It is why you often see advice on healthy food that you should take advice from your doctor before you start eating it. You could have a medical condition that is affected in some way by the healthy supplement you start taking. It is worth knowing of the reactions if nothing more. Doctors do give an expert advice, a coach is not an expert on nutritionist or medical matters. We are not meant to be, and we are supposed to advice our clients to seek professional advice before starting any diet or exercising program, no matter how highly recommended a diet or exercising regime comes. As a coach, I can help you look at how the progress is going of the diet or exercising, but I am only there to hold you accountable in this matter, in other words, I can help you motivate yourself to do things you have planned to do, because you will need to come and tell me whether you did it or not last week, and you do not want to be lying to anyone. The way our minds work, it means we have an extra motivation to execute our plan.

So we have looked at what a coaching relationship and a coaching session is, we have not gone into details in any length of the imagination, my purpose with this blog was to show that it is nothing scary, it is not anything to worry about, and it can be really useful. There is a reason why all successful athletes has a coach. It is also more and more common for successful people to have a coach as well. Remember, everybody started where they are, and work their way towards the top, nobody started at the top. One can be wealthy by inheritage, but nobody can have their thinking done for them.

Corona and Life Coaching

Hi All,

A new week, a new possibility, but still Corona is riding us as a night mare.

It has started to come a lot of great positive stories out on Facebook, lots of progress is happening. Not that I hear any of that in the media, but I try to stay focused on the positive, at the same time as I take all the precautions I can. Business still must go on.

Many businesses has stopped up completely. It is a night mare for the world economy. There seems to be nothing happening, but there must be things happening. There is being produced food that we can eat, or we would have a problem very soon, there is many people being sick, and an awful amount of people dying from or with the Corona Virus. It is awful to see the results of a few people eating wild animals spreading throughout the world. What will happen to the world after this? Some say we will become a better world, some say it will be a financial crisis. Who knows. Time will tell. I have learned to not worry to much by saying 4 words: ¨This to will pass¨.

Corona has closed down the world, it has been told that most people that die are old people, but at the same time there are lots of young people both being sick, and also very sick with the virus. Our business is effected in that we cannot do face-to-face coaching at present, but thanks to the technology we have excess to the second best form of face-to-face communication. We have Zoom, Skype and Facebook Messenger, and can communicate with people while seeing them on all three platforms. So there is lots of ways to communicate with clients. We have found that there is an increased need to help people take their focus away from the fear that they feel about the Corona virus. It is important to be careful, and it is important not to be fearful. Why? Well, fear stops your natural thinking and can in the end, in fact, be the reason you create sickness and disorders. So it is important to keep a positive mind set going. No matter how hard it gets.

Now when the Corona Virus is very bad in some countries, it is great to see the many happy stories that come out from Facebook, of course, there are sad stories that should not be forgotten too, but there are many positive stories, not just about people surviving, but about research that is progressing towards possible cures for the sickness the Corona Virus brings. Some medicines we already have developed seems to be working against the virus at different stages in the progression, like the Malaria drug and the Ebola drug, meaning the drug that did not work successfully against Ebola, but it seems to now help in the fight against Corona. It is great to see how the researcher are now scrambling to help out in the fight against Corona. Hopefully one day we will have a way to be sure nobody will die from this virus any longer. We can only hope so far, but we see a chance for it, if we keep our minds healthy and positive.

For my business as a Life Coach, I have cancelled all live face-to-face call, and are only booking online face-to-face calls, it is nearly the same, except when people are jumping away from the screen. Of course, I miss the relationship one can build when one are in the same room, but due to my health risks I am not taking the risk of being in the same room as anyone just at the present. I am not scared, I am only positively careful. It is important not to let our minds slip into being or feeling scared or fearful. There is a lot of danger in doing that. We have to remain positive and hope that things will pass. To challenge oneself. It is just that we do, we help you see what you do not find out of yourself. Sometimes I hear people say that it is strange to have a coach, but I insure you, it does help us in life. Especially if we are working on a project. We can do a lot of things we did not even know we could do, and with encouragement from a person from the outside, it increases your capacity, and it reminds you.

A final thought on Corona Virus, and these special times. We think it is important to remember, that there are lots of good work going on, there is a lot to be said for finding a plan B in life, and we are all becoming aware of the fact that there are so many risks just focusing on one income stream. So remain positive, hope for the best in life, and do not become fearful or let these days overwhelm you, have a great day, and hope to hear from you.
